Sarah RIP
Yesterday my daughter Kerry put a message on my facebook wall, “today it is 8 years since Sarah’s death I can’t believe it has been that long. I still think about her a lot…” I was immediately transported back and overcome with terrible grief.
Sarah was one of Kerry’s best friends since she was 5 years old. They went to school together at St Joseph’s Convent in Reading Berks. England. We had...

Hearing sexual stories of the past always brings me pain and hope of healing. I’m absolutely positive that my jacked-upped-ness is the way it is now because of my past. Not only was I molested for years by my grandfather but I was also raped by my much older cousin.
Once when my mom found out she…

So now here I am on my days off thinking about work and my young orientee. WTF this sucks. I usually have no trouble at all forgetting about work when I’m off. So I’m hoping by venting here on tumblr I’ll be less likely to talk...

Journey Program ~ March 30th 2011
March 30th 2011

Nursing school does not prepare you for ICU, I think it’s better to start in a more general med surg setting. Maybe this Journey will change my mind at this point I’m doubtful. We have a few graduates of the Journey program on the unit and they are actually very good. So...

Journey Program ~ Part 1 March 28th 2011
March 28th 2011
I have precepted many nurses to our unit and for the most part I enjoy it. Last week I started precepting a Journey Program or Nurse Intern Program nurse. She is 23 and a brand new RN BSN, she is lovely beautiful and clueless. She will be strapped to my hip in ICU for the next 8 months. OMG what have I done. A deer in the headlights does not come close to describing this. More...
