A real Medigun →
cranquis:
What’re your thoughts on the “skin gun” that scientists are making progress with? Right now it can heal skin much more quickly than a transplant, and soon it’ll heal hair, muscle, etc.
It’s FREAKING AWESOME!
That’s awesome !

Where do you draw the line?
I just saw a lady in her fifties I would say sitting in her SUV in the parking lot of Harris Teeter with her oxygen via nasel canula and smoking a cigarette. It was all I could do to stop myself from banging on the car window and yelling at that woman. I mean really how stupid is this. How many patients have I taken care of over the years with facial burns and worse from smoking with oxygen on. OMG I need a new job this is making me crazy. I know from experience to interviene here could just bring me trouble......am I wrong to walk away????

white-coat:
The following is a loose transcript of the lecture I had by a Russian gynecologist yesterday.
“What are 4 pathologies of gynecology that produce a smell? Trichomonas, Gardneralla, Gonorrhea and what else? Anyone? No, chlamydia doesn’t often present with a smell. Here’s a hint, I’ve had patients…

Report on Medicare Cites Prescription Drug Abuse
The following report was published Monday 3rd October in the New York Times. This is a scandal that needs to be addressed, it just makes me furious. I have done medication reconciliation forms on patients on admission that are a mile long. Patients working the system to get drugs from various doctors and pharmacies. I had a woman reciently in ICU who was obviously in withdrawal and asking for her...

Doctor Nurse controversy.
I’m going take on the Doctor Nurse controversy.
This isn’t a new issue, as the doctorate in nursing degree has been around for awhile. But a recent piece in the New York Times gave it new life.
The topic is a ripe invitation to “doctor bash,” with the predictable arguments about physicians protecting their turf, elitism, and the like.
Yawn.
To sample the representative comments,...

China's students encouraged to smoke →
cranquis:
Schools sponsored by tobacco companies, cigarette package warning labels regulated by tobacco-monopoly committees… And 2 in 5 Chinese doctors smoke. Gee I wonder if all this is contributing to rising smoking-related diseases and deaths in China? (Spoiler alert: it is)
